Introduction to The Shore latest city apartment building in the middle of Kota Kinabalu - The building you see above in this picture is called "The Shore". It is a new building project still in progress (in November 2022 while I write this blog post) and not yet opened to the public.
What Is The Shore
The Shore is a luxurious modern apartment in the middle of Kota Kinabalu city center. The front section of The Shore building is built facing the sea towards Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park which is a marine park in Kota Kinabalu.

The Shore has 627 apartment units. The size of Each unit is about 409 – 729 square feet per unit. The building itself built in central business district of Kota Kinabalu city center. If you prefer good strategic location but don't mind living in small apartment so this place is for you.
The Shore is a 23-storey building. The height of The Shore quiet similar to Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu which was opened to public visitor starting from November 1, 2022. The physical location of The Shore building is actually in Sinsuran area.

From my personal experience, the land that used to be the base of The Shore building has been empty and vacant for many years since the 1960's until Chinese investors came visiting Kota Kinabalu between 2014-2015 and put their investment money in several luxurious projects in the city.
They cover their investment by using other parties or by using investment companies that will be deposited their money in an undisclosed amount.
We personally dont know if this was true. Maybe it was just rumours or just empty talks. But from what I heard from local folks, Chinese investment is the reason why so many new buildings built in Kota Kinabalu in recent years starting from 2014 onwards where tourism sector in Kota Kinabalu is booming.

Well what can I say? Chinese tourists and Chinese visitors are the reason why local economy in Kota Kinabalu is booming in rapid way.
Since 2015 I saw several new shops opened, new accommodation opened, new Chinese restaurants opened and local tourism companies starting to hire many Chinese speaking staff to cater big Chinese crowds among Chinese tourists.
Some Chinese tourists from mainland China even invest their money in local tourism companies then partnering up with them by opening booking center in China catered for Chinese people who interested in enjoying holiday in Kota Kinabalu.
Where Is The Shore
The Shore is between KK Plaza shopping mall and the Sinsuran complex business area. At the back side of The Shore building is the Malaysian Central Bank (Bank Negara) building which is kept unpainted and undecorated since the day it was built.
At the front of The Shore is the Pasar Besar Kota Kinabalu (also known is Kota Kinabalu Wet Market) where local people buy vegetables, fruits, local foods, food ingredients, meat, chicken, fish and other cooking necessities.
The other building located in front of The Shore is SAFMA fishery complex. SAFMA is short for Sabah Fish Marketing Sdn Bhd which is local government agency under Sabah's Ministry Of Agriculture and Fishery.
The Shore Latest Updates In November 2022
I've visited The Shore in middle of November 2022 during my morning walk from Gaya Street Sunday Market. From what I saw, the building itself has been completed. I did not see any big crane and big machines just like what I saw during early 2022 which is 2 years ago.

The development of the building has been slow and steady during previous years since since 2017 when the project has been started. Right now all I can see the workers are busy planting flowers and grass in the front side section of the The Shore.
The main entrance of The Shore is still a big empty space. I saw several workers installed wires and new pipes inside the main hall or the main lobby area.
When I walk pass The Shore at night there is not electricity yet inside the building. I saw several security guards walk around the building. There is a lot of more works need to be done.
